Publisher’s note: Here’s a 5G update from our neighbors at EMF SAFETY VERMONT.
Legislative Update on the 5G Bill H. 513“The 5G Bill” (Bill H.513 – An act relating to broadband deployment throughout Vermont) passed unanimously in the Vermont Senate today with agreement between the House and Senate to bring the FCC’s rapid deployment policies for “small cell” antennas, including 5G, to Vermont. Although we weren’t able to stop 5G, here is what we achieved: 1. Acknowledgement that health is relevant to the topic of cellular antennas placed every two to ten houses and in front of schools and other populated areas. 2. A directive to the Commissioner of Health to complete a report of health effects of exposure to the radiation. Increased public participation through an updated Vermont Telecommunications Plan (which currently emphasizes 5G). 3. Furthermore, the untruths of Telecom lobbyists were exposed. 4. The facts of the serious health effects of radio frequency radiation were brought to the bright light of the statehouse through television, newspapers, radio (VPR did a great story!), social media. 5. Some Representatives and Senators had their eyes opened, especially that 5G has already been installed in some residential neighborhoods in Vermont without peoples’ knowledge and sometimes even in their front yards! So much for the mantra that 5G isn’t coming to Vermont anytime soon… EMF Safety for Vermont will continue to advocate for Vermonters’ health and safety, our property values, and natural beauty. We plan to meet soon with the Vermont Commissioner of Health to present facts for his department and regulatory agencies to consider for the health report that they must prepare by January 1, 2020. We are grateful to everyone who fought hard to be heard by our legislators. The Sergeant at Arms at the Vermont Statehouse said that he was “barraged” with calls and emails. Let’s keep up the pressure and keep the conversation going. Reach out to Governor Phil Scott and stay close to your legislators… politely let them know how you feel about the passage of H.513 and ask for their participation in ensuring Vermonters can opt for safe technology. Also, tell your friends that 5G is being deployed in Vermont and the pace will only quicken now that Bill H.513 has been passed. We have demonstrated that by working together, we have made and shall continue to make a difference. Iishana Artra Derrik Jordan Beverly Stone Donald Saaf EMF Safety For Vermont |
