George Lakey will be coming to Vermont between October 11th and 17th to talk about his landmark book about the Scandinavian economies. The book describes how the economies work for the people of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, how they achieved the changes needed to make for more democratic economic systems, and how we can do it here.

Come to any of the following locations at the appointed times to hear more:

October 11th, 7:15 pm: South Royalton, BALE Commons at 35 South Windsor St.
October 12th, 7:00 pm: Montpelier, Unitarian Church at 130 Main St.
October 13th, 7:00 pm: St. Johnsbury, Athaneum at 117 Main St.
October 14th, 5:30 pm: Cabot, Headwater Garden and Learning at 40 Garden Way.
October 15th, 4:00 pm: Keene, NH at Toadstool Books at 12 Emerald St.
October 17th: 7:00 pm: Burlington, Phoenix Books at 191 Bank St.

The event in St. Johnsbury will be a panel discussion with leaders of several Vermont organizations to discuss legislative initiatives that might be possible here. It would be particularly good to see legislators interested in economic reform at that meeting. There will be plenty of opportunities to interact with the panelists and participants.

The event in Cabot is a New Economy Party, featuring a pot luck dinner at 5:30, George as a speaker at 6:15, and Rik Palieri singing at 7:00.

There is a $10 – $15 suggested donation for the concert.
