And here, a fascinating new Aubrey Marcus interview with University of Ghent Professor of Clinical Psychology Mattias Desmet in Belgium.

MASS FORMATION occurs, Desmet argues, when several civilizational forces converge:

1. Lack of social bonds, which contributes to…
2. Lack of meaning/purpose, which leads to…
3. Increase in “free floating” anxiety, fear and discontent, which fuels…
4. Increase in “free floating” frustration and aggression.

Enter the COVID narrative, which focuses MASS attention on a very small part of a larger Reality, and offers Humans who are feeling “at sea” a new narrative and a new sacrificial set of rituals – physical distancing, masking, lockdowns, etc.-  around which to cohere and organize their existence. “The more absurd, useless, and meaningless these rituals,” Desmet explains, “the better they psychologically function to build social cohesion.”

In his study of totalitarian MASS FORMATION, Desmet suggests that roughly 30% of US jump on board with the new narrative, 40% acquiesce due to fear, or to simply “go along and not rock the boat,” and 30% resist.

Most tellingly? “Transhumanism is the basic ideology of the current crisis,” explains Desmet.

Solutions?

1. Listen To All Sides.
2. Trust Your Intuition.
3. Love Team Human, even as you stand your ground.
4. Build what Vaclav Havel calls “parallel structures” fueling a “parallel polis”  to ride out the storm.
