We have been making some real progress building a movement for a New Economy in Vermont, and this means it’s time for you to get to work if you want to be involved. Here are some important meetings coming up, please put them on your calendars.
Friday, February 24th: BNI Network Launch at the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier. 8:00 am. This is a new business network that works to generate word-of-mouth referrals for network members. The launch party is a chance to meet people and describe your business.RSVP required – click here.
Saturday, February 25th: SolidarityVT Gathering at the United Church/North Church in St. Johnsbury. 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Come and Meet Shelia Reed, Sen. Sanders new staff person and talk with people who are interested in social, economic, and racial justice, human and environmental health, democracy, and peace.
Thursday, March 2nd: Vermonters for a New Economy meeting at Casa Aguilera in St. Johnsbury. 6:00 pm. We will be having a discussion about the public banking legislation currently pending at the State House.
Monday, March 6th: Convening meeting of the State Commission for a Vermont State Bank. 1:30 pm. Montpelier location TBA. State Treasurer Beth Pearce will join us by phone at 3:00 to discuss the (mis)information she has been sending to legislators about a public bank. All are welcome, as are the commission members thestate legislation described. Please RSVP.
Thursday, March 9th: Earthship Economics, atHeadwaters Garden and Learning Center in Cabot. 7:00 pm. This is the first of a series of discussion groups about what exactly we mean by the New Economy in Vermont. It will be livestreamed from our Earthship greenhouse if you can’t make the trip.
Friday, May 5th: Legislator meeting with Dr. Thomas Keidel and Mr. Nicholas Bergmann of the Sparkasse Banks in Germany. Montpelier location TBA. Please RSVP.
Saturday and Sunday, May 6th and 7th: Spring Training Workshop with Vermonters for a New Economy and Public Banking for New Hampshire. Comfort Inn, St. Johnsbury. We will be learning about the nuts and bolts of public banking in Germany and about the sovereign money movement in England. Please RSVP, registration required.
Changing paradigms is hard work – we know this is a lot of meetings, but we need your support if we really want to make progress. We promise you won’t be bored.
