Publisher’s Note: We have championed “Masking By Choice” since the emergence of this COVIDtastrophe last spring 2020. Now, UVM researchers state the ‘urgent need’ for ‘further research’ on ‘behavioral effects’ of masks. To be clear, we have observed a disturbing trend in recent weeks – Vermont businesses REQUIRING masks by GOVERNOR’S MANDATE for entering any place of commerce to buy food, purchase gas, obtain medical supplies etc, despite ‘medical exemptions” and other health exceptions built into the Governor’s mandate (which, legally speaking, is NOT a law, but a mandate.)
For thousands of Vermonters who choose to or are not able to don a mask, this is an awkward and potentially dangerous public health dilemma. Once again, we urge Vermont public health officials to shelve these top-down “one side fits all” medical interventions dictated from above – citizens’ health and safety depend on it. Lew Rockwell lays out “Twenty Reasons Why Masks Are Unsafe, Ineffective, and Immoral,” the AIER supports veteran New York Times journalist Alex Berenson’s conclusion that “masks don’t work” in his must-read well-researched trilogy Unreported Truths About COVID-19, and of course, we’ve regularly shared our mask research here at Vermont Independent.
