Publisher’s Note: The multi-layered irony of U.S. presidential imperial demagogues lashing out at Muslim/Syrian refugees created, in no small measure, by ISIS-friendly U.S. government foreign policies in the Middle East is not lost on thoughtful observers. The question is: how should we proceed? One answer: De-centralization. Re-localization. Dissolve the U.S. of Empire. Free Vermont!
Trump is one of 14 Republican presidential aspirants – fascist lunatics representing America’s dark side.
They’re in lockstep with their Democrat opponents, supporting endless wars of aggression, corporate interests over popular ones, Israel’s killing machine, and harsh crackdowns on nonbelievers.
It’s hard deciding who’s more over-the-top and dangerous to world peace than others. For sure, Trump is the most outrageously outspoken.
On Monday, he called for a “total and complete shutdown” of Muslims entering America. With ideology this extreme, imagine the horrors he’ll unleash if elected president, a nightmare too extreme to tolerate.”
He’s more than dangerous. He’s hugely offensive, stupid and ideologically racist, saying “(i)t is obvious the hatred (among Muslims) is beyond comprehension.”
“Where this hatred comes from and why, we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life.”
As president, he’d maintain a ban on Muslim immigration “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”
He told Fox News he’d permit Muslims serving in the US military to return home – neglecting to explain as citizens they’re entitled to the same constitutional rights as everyone else.
His spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, said he’d ban “everyone” – all Muslims. He backed his claim based on extremist Frank Gaffney’s hard-right Center for Security Policy claiming its survey data showed 51% of Muslims believe they “should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah” law.
The credibility of the survey is very much in doubt. Trump ludicrously claims Shariah “authorizes” beheadings, other atrocities, and “more unthinkable acts.”
Council on American-Islamic Relations communications director Ibrahim Hooper asked “(w)here is there left for him to go? Are we talking about internment camps? Are we talking about (extermination from) the final solution?”
State-sponsored and media reported propaganda created a climate of fear, part of Washington’s strategy to enlist public support for endless wars of aggression against invented enemies and crackdowns on fundamental freedoms – on the phony pretext of making America safer.
Trump is exploiting it in the extreme. He’s not alone. Post-9/11, Washington declared war on Islam. It’s the wrong time to be Muslim in America.
Ignored are its common roots with Christianity and Judaism – teaching love not hate, peace, not war, and charity for those most in need.
Islam endangers no one. All religions have extremist fringe groups, none more dangerous than Christian fascists and ideologically over-the-top racist/radicalized Jews – with the power of Western and Israeli military forces supporting them.
Trump is a fascist demagogue. So is Obama and the entire array of major duopoly power presidential aspirants.
Choice for Americans in November 2016 is none at all. Voters have no say whatever. Business as usual wins every time. Given the deplorable duopoly choices, perhaps worse than ever next year.
As an aging senior old enough to remember the scourge of Nazism, I cringe at what I see coming, no matter who’s elected US president next November.
