According to National Journal reporter Rebecca Nelson this week, former U.S. Congressman Ron Paul supports North American secession movements, though he remains doubtful of their ultimate success.
Here in the Second Vermont Republic, we’re taking the long view.
As we’ve long argued, secession is as American as apple pie and the Declaration of Independence, and New England was the first region in the new United States (back when it was a republic) to agitate for independence from a United States deemed to aggressive, expansionistic, and warlike.
As the only state in the U.S. of Empire to have constituted itself as an independent republic, Vermont has a special role to play in promoting peaceable secession in the 21st century.
Free Vermont, and long live the Untied States of America.
